About This Compound+
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is not a peptide — it is a coenzyme found in every living cell and one of the most studied molecules in ageing biology.
As a redox coenzyme, NAD+ accepts electrons during glycolysis and the citric acid cycle, forming NADH, which feeds the mitochondrial electron transport chain. It is also consumed as a substrate by sirtuins (SIRT1–7), by PARP enzymes involved in DNA repair, and by CD38, whose activity is studied as a driver of age-related NAD+ decline.
Research links declining NAD+ levels with age to changes in mitochondrial function and DNA repair capacity. See the references below for the original literature.
